Description
Progress Report 21–03.0 is a geologic map plate covering the eastern two-thirds of the Saxton quadrangle, and extending halfway into the Entriken and Wells Tannery quadrangles to the north and south, respectively. The area crosses the central part of the Broad Top coalfield. The plate includes a 1:24,000-scale bedrock geologic map, an explanation of map units, four photographs, and two cross sections. Bedrock units range from the Pennsylvanian Casselman Formation through the Devonian Brallier and Harrell Formations, undivided. The mapping project was funded in part by the USGS National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program.
