Description: | This miscellaneous investigation supersedes OFMI 15–01.0, a bathymetric (lake-depth) map of Whipple Lake in Whipple Dam State Park, Huntingdon County, south-central Pennsylvania. Behr prepared the new map from water-depth data collected by drone after the lake was dredged in 2020. The map is presented in three formats: a color oversized map measuring 11 inches by 17 inches, a color page-size map, and a black-and-white page-size map. The report is one of many similar reports that were produced by the Pennsylvania Geological Survey at the request of state park managers and is of use to anglers and boaters visiting the park. In addition to water depths, the maps in these reports display fish-friendly structures, such as stumps or downed trees, and they show amenities in the parks, such as boat ramps, concessions, and restrooms. A readme file reminds the user of the limitations of these maps—although useful as a guide, they are not to be used for navigation. |
