Description: | This publication is a detailed, 31-page report on the geology of the Howard and Beech Creek 7.5-minute quadrangles in central Pennsylvania. The author of the report described the Cambrian to Pennsylvanian sedimentary rocks that crop out in the area and their associated landforms. Mapped structures include Alleghanian folds and faults, and numerous measurements were made on joints representing at least four joint sets. The atlas includes a 1:24,000-scale bedrock geologic map, a table of geochemical analysis results for a rock sample from the Beech Creek quadrangle, and two appendices containing (1) a drill-core description from the Bald Eagle State Park Marina and (2) tables of structural measurements. The data presented on the map were compiled in an ArcGIS geodatabase. The geodatabase, shapefiles, and metadata are included in the download for this report. |
