Description
The soils of Adams County are mostly residual soils derived from the underlying rocks. The results of a reconnaissance soil survey for this county conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Soils and the Department of Agriculture of the Pennsylvania State College are presented in this report. The text includes a discussion of farming practices, a section on the derivation of soils and predominant soils by location, and detailed descriptions of 26 different soil types and their relation to agriculture. The geographic distribution of the soils in the county is shown in color on a 1:62,500-scale soil map that is part of the publication.
