Description
In 2016, the Pennsylvania Geological Survey’s park guide series was recategorized and included in a new trail of geology series. TG 16–013.0 is a reformatted version of the Ricketts Glen State Park guide (Park Guide 13). Ricketts Glen is a picturesque gorge with waterfalls that were carved into the Allegheny Front by Kitchen Creek. The area, in northeastern Pennsylvania, is underlain by Mississippian and Devonian clastic rocks. The authors of this guide discuss five geologic sites of interest within the park and the geologic history of the park, including how glaciation affected drainage in the area. Illustrations enhance the text and include photographs, a geologic column, a general cross section, a geologic map, and other appropriate sketches.
