Description
This colorful geologic map of the greater Harrisburg area was printed on an oversize sheet of paper (13 by 14 inches). The map depicts five general rock groups: dark-gray diabase; maroon shale, sandstone, and conglomerate; gray sandstone, and gray and maroon shale; dark-gray shale and minor sandstone and limestone; and gray limestone. A short description under each unit describes their topographic expression and depositional and tectonic history. The map also shows roads, the Susquehanna River, creeks, and faults. There is a cross section superimposed on the northeast corner of the map.
