Description
This publication includes a map plate and five plates of stratigraphic correlations with interpretative cross sections—all at 1:125,000 scale. The mapped area includes all of Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties. The main plate has a geologic map, a short text, a geologic column, a long list of references, and (in the explanation) descriptions of the geologic units, including their groundwater characteristics and environmental aspects. The stratigraphic correlations are based on oil and gas well logs, cores, and measured sections.
