Description:Map 1 is a regional (1:250,000-scale) map of the bedrock geology of Pennsylvania. It consists of three sheets: geology in the western half of the state, geology in the eastern half of the state, and four northwest-southeast-trending geologic cross sections. The explanation includes short descriptions of the rock units. In addition to geologic units, the map shows borders of glacial ice advances, axial traces of folds, surface lines of (undesignated) faults, and the boundaries and names of 7.5-minute quadrangles. In 2001, the bureau published a digital dataset that included limited revisions for the map. The dataset, which was compiled by C. E. Miles and T. G. Whitfield, is displayed in the bedrock geology map layer of PaGEODE and can be downloaded in its entirety from http://www.dcnr.pa.gov/Geology/PublicationsAndData/Pages/default.aspx.
