Description:This is a reprint of a 2006 Geological Society of America (GSA) Annual Meeting guidebook article that was used for a field trip of the Gettysburg battlefield. It explores the roles that geology and surface topography played in the military actions. There is a summary of the battle, a summary of the geology, and a series of road logs and stop descriptions. Illustrations in the report include photographs, maps and cross section, a stratigraphic column, and sketches of dinosaur footprints.
