Description
This report consists of a 1:24,000-scale surficial geologic map of the Allentown West 7.5-minute quadrangle in eastern Pennsylvania and a short text. Surficial geology includes 14 types of anthropogenic, alluvial, and colluvial units, and 3 types of pre-Illinoian glacial deposits. Areas of bedrock are defined by rock type. The text includes map unit descriptions and a discussion of reconnaissance mapping procedures, previous work, and the effects of glacial and periglacial activity on landforms and drainage. A table equates published soil map units to the surficial and bedrock units shown on the report map.
