Description
This report is a folio of 10 maps, a stratigraphic column, and two tables related to oil and gas drilling in the Butler 15-minute quadrangle in Butler County, Pennsylvania. Nine of the maps (scale 1:24,000) show the areas of oil- and gas-producing sands and the locations of oil and gas wells at the time of compilation. Each of those maps covers 5 minutes of latitude and longitude (one-ninth of the quadrangle). The tenth map is of the entire quadrangle (scale approx. 1:62,500) and shows 20-foot structure contours on top of Vanport limestone. The maps are followed by a composite geologic section showing producing oil and gas sands and other lithologic units, 11 pages of selected well records to the Speechley (Table 1) and 3 pages of selected well records below the Speechley (Table 2).
