Description
This report consists of a map and text on one plate. It presents geologic investigations of Path Valley, which trends northeast-southwest along the northwestern border of Franklin County. The 1:62,500-scale, full-color geologic map covers about 60 square miles. It includes faults, and the outcrop patterns are typical of plunging folds. Five cross sections further illustrate the structural framework of the area. Mapped units extend from the Lower Ordovician Rockdale Run Formation up to the Lower Silurian Rose Hill Formation and are mostly carbonate rocks. The text includes unit descriptions and a discussion of the structural geology, fold and fault mechanics, and the resource potential of the carbonate rocks.
