Description
Summary report on the definition, distribution, characteristics, and regional geology of the Lower Devonian Oriskany Sandstone, an important producer of natural gas, in the subsurface of Pennsylvania. Text topics include an introduction, method of study, an explanation of maps, and a conclusion. The study was in part an attempt to define and map the Oriskany Sandstone on a regional scale, show where Oriskany production existed at the time of publication, and predict where future production may be. Plates include a Ridgeley isopach and sub-Onondaga subcrop map, an Oriskany Sandstone thickness map, an Oriskany production map, and an Oriskany drilling depth map.
