Description
This report includes 1:24,000-scale maps of surficial and bedrock geology. Sixteen bedrock units, comprising about 14,000 feet of sedimentary rock and ranging in age from the Middle Silurian Rose Hill Formation through the Upper Mississippian Mauch Chunk Formation, are described. Surficial mapping identified 22 units, mostly of glacial origin. Sand, gravel, and crushed stone are the most significant mineral resources in the region. There is also a brief discussion of the drilling results from seven oil and gas exploration wells.
