Description
This report covers the bedrock and surficial geology, and mineral resources of the Montoursville South, Muncy, and part of the Hughesville 7.5-minute quadrangles in north-central Pennsylvania, southeast of Williamsport. The text describes rock lithology and structural geology of the northern edge of what is now called the Ridge and Valley physiographic province of the Appalachian Mountains. The report includes sections on economic resources, environmental geology, rock stratigraphy, and structural geology, and it has 1:24,000-scale bedrock and surficial geologic maps. The economic mineral resources include fuel (gas and oil) and nonfuel (sand and gravel, limestone, clay, shale, and dimension stone) resources.
