Description:This report map covers the southern half of the New Bloomfield 15-minute quadrangle (Shermans Dale and Wertzville 7.5-minute quadrangles) in Perry and Cumberland Counties. Stratigraphy of Lower-Middle Ordovician to Upper Mississippian rocks and Triassic dikes is explored. Two new members of the Catskill Formation, Shermans Creek and Duncannon Members, are proposed. Structures of the area include the Cove syncline, the smaller New Bloomfield anticlinorium, and the Perry County fault. Pleistocene deposits are described and mapped, including alluvium, colluvium, and terrace gravels. Mineral resources are limited to one crushed stone quarry. Eight geologic sections are detailed in the Appendix. A 1:24,000-scale geologic map includes three cross sections.
