Description:The majority of the Loysville 15-minute quadrangle lies in Perry County, the northwest corner falls in Juniata County, and a narrow strip along the south is in Cumberland County. The entire quadrangle is in what is now called the Ridge and Valley physiographic province. Stratigraphically, the report includes units from the Ordovician Martinsburg Formation through the Devonian Catskill Formation. Discussion of mineral resources is largely anecdotal and focuses on the use and potential use of the nonfuel (mostly aggregate) minerals in the formations. In addition to the text, the publication has a 1:24,000-scale geologic map and cross sections.
