Description
Report on the geology of the Tobyhanna and Buck Hill Falls 7.5-minute quadrangles in eastern Pennsylvania, an area within the Glaciated Pocono Plateau and Glaciated Low Plateau sections of the Appalachian Plateaus physiographic province. The report consists of 1:24,000-scale bedrock and surficial geologic maps, and text on the reverse side of the geologic map plate. Surficial deposits occur throughout the area and almost completely mask the bedrock units on the Glaciated Pocono Plateau. Bedrock in the area consists of Devonian Catskill clastic sedimentary rocks. Numerous small folds and fracture traces occur in the area. Although no mineral resources were being exploited at the time the report was published, a potential for the development of sand and gravel, peat, and sandstone sources is noted.
