Description
Atlas 175b consists of detailed maps of the bedrock geology (Plate 1) and coal resources (Plate 2) of the Conyngham 7.5-minute quadrangle, an area of approximately 56 square miles in east-central Pennsylvania. Plate 1 includes a bedrock geologic map (scale 1:24,000), detailed descriptions of the map units, and four cross sections. Plate 2 includes a coal resource map (scale 1:12,000) showing the locations of coal seams and strip-mine areas, and tabular quantitative information on the coal resources in the quadrangle. The data presented in this report were collected three decades before the year of publication. Although the preparation of hard-copy plates began at that time, budgetary constraints and changing priorities caused the job to be set aside until it could be more affordably published online. Supporting GIS datasets (shapefiles and a geodatabase) for the two maps that constitute the report are provided in the ZIP file with the job.
