Description
This is a detailed report on the geology and groundwater resources of the Mercer 15-minute quadrangle in western Pennsylvania. After an introduction to the area and the investigative study, the report text covers the geology, groundwater hydrology, and the geochemistry of the groundwater. The section on geology includes stratigraphy (descriptions of the Mississippian and Pennsylvanian bedrock units and the Quaternary deposits), petrography, structure, and sedimentation. The report has five plates, including a 1:48,000-scale bedrock geologic map and a 1:62,500-scale surficial geologic map. There are six tables, three of which list records of wells, chemical analyses of groundwater, and field analyses of groundwater.
