1. Search Box is used just like any other search browser, where you can search by any keyword, address, place name, zip code, etc. (This is located on the top of the map)

2. Find is used by selecting one of the 4 predefined Select queries (Name, County, Municipality and Parks near me) from the dropdown box and then typing in the search criteria in the Search for: (This is located on the left navbar)

The Find Local Parks near me and the Find Local Parks by County use a predefined list in the dropbox. The County list will give you the list of the 67 Counties in alphabetical order and the Find Local Parks near me give a predefined list of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 15 miles from the current location of the computer or mobile device.

When using the Find Local Parks by County you can further refine your search by clicking on the attributes (Swimming, Playground, Basketball, Dog Park, etc.) of the Local Parks in the selected County.

When finished with your searches, you will see a list of Local Parks listed by Park Name in addition to the number of returned results. When you click on the Park Name you want to view, the map will automatically be centered on the Park.

Using this tool, you can integrate the custom local parks finder link directly to your website and create a quick and easy way for people to find and view your local parks. We encourage you to create a custom link and promote this resource on your website homepage and/or a special promotional page.

INSTRUCTIONS
Creating your custom link can be done in a few short minutes with some careful alterations of an existing URL. Custom links can be created one of three ways: by county, by municipality OR by park name.

1. Create custom map by municipality:
Below are examples of how the link would work for Upper Allen Township in Cumberland County or Hampden Township in Cumberland County.
A. https://gis.dcnr.pa.gov/localparks/?Muni=Hampden&County=Cumberland
B. https://gis.dcnr.pa.gov/localparks/?Muni=Upper%20Allen&County=Cumberland
Directions:
For two word municipalities (e.g. Upper Allen Township), See option B for example. Same direction as one word option above however use "%20" for the space between the two words, as shown above in example B with "Upper%20Allen".

2. Create custom map by county:
Below is an example of what this would look like for Cumberland County
https://gis.dcnr.pa.gov/localparks/?county=Cumberland

3. Create custom map by park name:
Below is an example of what this would look like for Wentz Run Park
https://gis.dcnr.pa.gov/localparks/?name=Wentz%20Run%20Park
