Description:This report covers the physiography, stratigraphy, structural geology, mineral resources, and water resources of the Devonian through Pennsylvanian rocks common to the southern half of Somerset County in southwestern Pennsylvania. It includes 1:62,500-scale maps of the geology and coal reserves, and two appendices. Appendix A is a list of fossils at five Brush Creek limestone localities, and Appendix B gives numerous measured sections for localities shown on the geologic map. Numerous tables list reserve estimates for coal beds in the region as of 1953.
